Hutton Hall
A stunning grade II listed Georgian manor house, sitting within the most beautiful manicured gardens. If you are looking for an exclusive wedding venue in Essex with infinite photo opportunities and stunning backdrops for telling the story of your day, Hutton Hall is the place to be.
Hello! I’m Sylvie!
Since 2019 I have been living my dream job of photographing weddings! My approach is a relaxed, documentary style capturing moments as they happen throughout your wedding day, but add just a touch of editorial photography where it naturally fits.
Hutton Hall is another favourite venue of mine - a stunning wedding venue, located only 2 miles outside Brentwood and surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside. The manor is set in 8 acres of manicured gardens and while it is a wonderful venue for all seasons, I especially fell in love with its glory during those warm, long day summer weddings. There are several options for exchanging vows: whether you’d like to say “I do” within the main building in either the Grand Hall or the Blue Room, or, in the summer months under the Gazebo amid the gorgeous gardens. The grounds then offer endless opportunities for not only spectacular couple photos, but for capturing all those important in-between, candid moments during your reception and the dance floor later in the day.
If this made you curious, please scroll on and learn more about why I believe that Hutton Hall creates the perfect setting for your summer wedding.
Why a summer wedding at Hutton Hall is always a good idea!
If you’re dreaming of a timeless, romantic wedding venue in Essex, it’s hard to beat the magic of a summer celebration at Hutton Hall. As a wedding photographer, it’s one of those venues that just works—for couples, guests, and (selfishly) for incredible photos too.
Here are five reasons why summer weddings here are something really special.
1. The manor house, the Gardens and a Village church
A summer wedding at Hutton Hall really is the perfect mix of elegance and ease. Beautiful gardens, flexible spaces, and wonderful light.
In summer, everything is in full bloom and it makes it perfect for a relaxed drinks reception outdoors and timeless couple portraits with colourful, natural backdrops everywhere you turn.
A pathway leads through the wooded area and over to the fourteenth century village church which is located approximately 160 yards from the Hall, perfect for couples wishing to marry in a church.
2. Outdoor civil Ceremonies in the gardens
You can choose between two indoor ceremony rooms, but during the summer season, one of the standout features is the option for outdoor civil ceremonies in the gardens of Hutton Hall.
It’s ideal for couples who love lush trees and flowers as a stunning backdrop for their vows and also prefer something not overly formal.
3. A light and airy dining space
During the summer months, the marquee at Hutton Hall is perfectly positioned on the lawn beside the rose garden.
This gives you the best of both worlds:
Guests can move seamlessly between the garden and dining space, garden views all around but having comfort of cover from the odd English rain shower, and last but not least a constant gentle breeze during those hot August days.
4. Endless photo opportunities
There are so many beautiful photo spots tucked away throughout the venue, so I always love to take my couple on a short walk around the venue later in the day, and often after the wedding breakfast has finished.
Summer weddings have also the advantage of long daylight evenings, so there is really no time pressure at all and lots of opportunities for those few extra couple photos.
5. The Blue room
Last but not least, let’s talk about the Blue Room. While it’s not strictly related to summer weddings, I think it’s important to mention the gorgeous interior of Hutton Hall.
The cake is normally cut in the Grand Hall, a beautiful and historic entrance hall with listed floors and plenty of space, so all your guests can watch while you cut the cake.
Once the original ballroom of the manor house, the Blue Room is the perfect backdrop for your first dance and for letting your hair down afterwards.
On mild summer nights, your guests can cool off in the informal, beautifully lit courtyard area behind the main building.

“We chose Sylvie to be our wedding photographer as she was highly recommended by friends of ours. Sylvie was extremely approachable and responsive. We felt at ease with Sylvie as neither of us are keen to have our photo taken. Sylvie ensured she got all the shots we wanted during our wedding and our guests commented upon how hard she worked to ensure she got all the shots on our wedding day. We have had a recent sneak peak of our wedding photos and we are blown away. We can’t wait to see the rest. Thank you so much Sylvie! Highly recommend..”
